Apeiron Review is Open for Submissions!

It’s that time again! Apeiron Review is open for submissions!

I’ll be reading for Apeiron once more, and I look forward to seeing some great stories. If you didn’t know, Apeiron Review is a literary magazine based in Philadelphia that publishes fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and a few photos. I’m one of many Slush Readers who help to decide what does and doesn’t get published.

So do you think your writing is good? Do you like simultaneous submissions? Are you happy you don’t have to pay us to submit like other literary magazines? Do you have any short stories you’ve been holding onto? Send them in! Show me what you got!

Show me what you got!

Show me what you got!

Show me your moves!

Show me your moves!

Show me the money!

Show me the money!

Okay, enough of that shit.

Here is our submissions page. Check out this blurb from the Apeiron website to see what we’re interested in:

We want something real, something beautiful, something ugly, and something that sings to the far reaches of our being. Make us laugh or make us cry, but we want something visceral. Free verse poems are generally favored over those that rhyme. Experimentation is encouraged. There are no limits on form, but please keep short stories and nonfiction to 3k or less.

We do accept flash fiction with 1k word counts or less.

We are looking for brutal, surreal, experimental, and/or beautiful photography. Send us your best (high resolution) photos.

If you’re interested so far, take a look at some past issues to see what we’ve published before, or visit the Apeiron Crew section to see who reads your submissions and guess if they’ll be interested in what you got.

We just published Issue #10, and we can’t wait to grow even further.

Show me what you got!

Author Interview: Ashley Hutson’s “Hot Bones” at r.kv.r.y. Quarterly Literary Journal

I’ve mentioned before that I’m a slush reader at Apeiron Review, and today I want to give a shout-out to my colleague over at Apeiron, Ashley Hutson.

She’s a great writer who has published some quality flash fiction and poetry (which you can check out here), and she just recently published Hot Bones at r.kv.r.y Quarterly Literary Journal. It’s a poem about a grandfather being eaten by his family for dinner, in a symbolic way, not quite literally (maybe a little literally). It’s weird and cool and poignant, so check it out.

Anyway, r.kv.ry. liked Ashley’s poem so much that they decided to interview her about it, and for whatever crazy reason Ashley asked me to conduct the interview on her behalf.

Here’s the interview. Enjoy!

Raven Chronicles Photo Publication

Raven Chronicles

Aayyy! I just got my complimentary copies of Raven Chronicles Vol 21!

Aayyyy!

Aayyyy!

My photograph, “Origami Ravens” was published. Shoutout to Tiffany Midge for telling me to submit here!

Here are some extra photos of me showing off this sweet publication.

Here’s a blurb from the back with my name.

And here’s my photo in print:

If that seems a little sketchy, here’s a higher res photo:

So I’m super excited that Raven Chronicles picked my photo (even if those ravens were actually crows). Check them out at RavenChronicles.Org, and buy yourself a copy if you love fiction and art that reflects cultural diversity in the Pacific Northwest and other regions.

Check out my other origami stuff. Maybe I’ll do more!

Apeiron Review Author Interview: Andrea Onstad’s “The Cat and The Tree”

Hi, everyone. I want to highlight an author interview I conducted for Apeiron Review.

I spoke with Andréa J. Onstad regarding the story we published over at Apeiron.

The Cat and The Tree was one of my favorite pieces from slushing so far, and I was thrilled we were able to share her work. What made me really happy was the chance to pick her brain. So read the story and follow up with the interview for a peak into the creative process.

Check it out.
